Metal detector comparison is maybe the safest way to go. If you have the possibility to compare the metal detectors at your store, then that would be just the thing to do. On the other hand, playing with the metal detector for five minutes will not seriously divulge all the good and bad sides of the model, while you are flicking switches in the store, with the salesperson looming over you and counting the commission in his or her head. Community forums, where relic hunters interact and share their knowledge and experiences, have vast amount of information pertaining to the available metal detector models, as well as the ones which are out of stock. The communities are very open to inquiries; you can conduct your own voting booth for which of the models fits your needs most efficiently. Several independent web pages offer metal detector comparisons, with direct evaluation of all pertinent models available for purchase. Do your research before you go to the store, and you will have no problem picking the right tool for your task.
