Companies like First Texas Products, from El Paso, Texas, are not very well known, but their products speak for themselves. First Texas produces some of the best metal detectors designated to relic and treasure hunting. They are the manufacturers of the widely popular Bounty Hunter metal detectors, but they are also the company behind Kellyco’s Titan metal detector series. There are a lot of similarities between the Bounty Hunter line and the Titan line, when examining them very closely, then it is evident that Titan metal detectors seem to be Bounty Hunters in disguise. First Texas also produces night vision products, having acquired Night Owl optics, which was based in New York, in 1999. Titan metal detectors come in three different models, all of which can have either a smaller coil or a bigger ten inch coil. The smaller coils are for the smallest model 7.25 inches and for the two bigger models 8.25 inches. The bigger coil is ten inches for all models. The best feature of Titan is perhaps the incredible price value ratio. The Titan line is destined to be some kind of moderate to mid priced metal detecting units, but the features which are provided go beyond simple start up models. Similar models in the Bounty Hunter line do cost at least fifty dollars more, although the lines cannot be that easily compared. For instance the Titan 3000 XD model can be compared to either the Bounty Hunter Land Star or Land Ranger models, where the Land Star is more comparable with the features but the interface and the display is better, which would be similar to the Land Ranger. It is almost as if the Titan 3000 XD is meant to be the in-between model, whereby the price is approximately that of the Land Star. Titan 3000 XD metal detector is very popular, which is evident from the customer responses. However, they note that the Titan is actually a Bounty Hunter 3300 model, with a better display and a little bit improved interface. The interesting thing is that the Radio Shack model 3300 is also a Bounty Hunter 3300 model, only without all the Titan improvements. The main surprise people encounter with the Titan models is the depth. The Titan models seem to protrude very well into the soil, providing deeper and more accurate results on larger depths than the counterpart models, but that may be just the impression of the testing individuals. Perhaps the XD addition, which is supposed to mean extra deep, is true and the main difference is the actual coil power?
